Temps on p5b

I have just built 2 identical systems using p5b's, e6600's and AC7 pro's. i have reseated the coolers several times and i still get idle temps of around 50c. IS this right?

Try using Core temp, or Intel's TAT.

Thanks. i tried coretemp and it read the temps about 10c less than asus. i was under the impression that conroe's have idle temps in the mid 20's on average.

Nah, 30-35C idle is fine, up to 40C depending on your ambient temps.

Yep, I think those temps are ok as reported by TAT/Core Temp.

There's something wrong about the temp sensor on these P5Bs definately.

I know it's daft to compare idle temps on two machines which in all likelihood have different cases/fans/ambients etc, but my OC'd E6300 is idling this evening at 34c/42c load.

For reference, with my AC7, the same system/OC would idle at 42c/55c load.
