Hi guys doing a new build next week I was going for the EVGA 4GB 670 FTW as it exhausts out the back of the case as I will be using the small Silverstone TJ08E case but would I noticed much increase in the case temps if I go for a MSI 7970 Lightning BE instead?

Yup, Don't do it, think about it logically, all the heat that card produces will require another case fan to remove it. While they both require a good cool air supply to work well, the rear exhaust card can get buy without that extra fan.

Small Cases are notoriously lacking in good airflow to begin with.

That's a nice little case design, although I disapprove of the Inverted PSU ( many have dumb fan control nowadays, so would not help with cooling anyway)

I would also remove the HDD cage and go SSD in a drive bay and soft mount a mechanical HDD to the case floor behind the fan.

Think You could get away with either card type there ;)

Yeah will be removing the HDD cage I will be mounting the HD in the drive bay below the optical drive and mounting the ssd on the floor.

Actualy that makes more sense but how would i mount the HD to the bottom of the case?

How were you gonna mount the ssd.....gaffer Tape ? :D

Any method from drilling 4 small holes in the case and using screws/Grommets directly, to using a lower bit of the HDD cage or the old top cover of a dvd drive self tapping screwed to the bottom of the case and a 5.25>3.5 HDD adapter to hold the drive, there are millions of ways.

There is a ssd mount at the bottom :P

Would this work ok? Alphacool 120mm x 100mm Velcro Pad [52028] and there is always this option for the HDD in the drive bay Scythe Himuro Aluminium Hard Drive Super Cooler/Silence

Yes Velcro works very well for vibration absorption, really you should mount the drive to an ally plate and velcro that to the case..... I'm guessing you don't have drills and plate around, so at a pinch mount the drive upside down, unless you can cut the velcro to secure on the sides and underneath without sticking it to the board. You will only need a couple of strips on the HDD, that's good stuff

Jakus ive had another thought m8 what about external mounting the HDD I could always get another HDD and use soemthing like this for data Icy Box External Raid Storage for 2 x 3.5" SATA HDD with USB 3.0 interface

More cables and hassle, go with the velcro down the sides of the Drive and folded under 1/2" each side , you could leave a bit of backing on the area by the pcb area, think that will work very well and give excellent vibration damping for the drive, and just a drive size square on the bottom of the case .

You will be amazed how that stuff grips ;)

ok cheers m8 appriciate the help

Yeah, no problem ;) Quite pleased you bought up the subject of velcro, totally overlooked it previously, and like your plans I've been pulling those useless HDD cages out to unblock the front fans airflow !
