Rig idle in the 25 to 30C range and under load it was 55c. Until a couple fo days ago

Now its idling at 55c and shooting up to low 80's under load. Nothings running in the background and its even that temp in safe mode.

I've clocked it back to standard setting for now but has anyone any idea why it would suddenly just start doing this for no reason?

Because it's bloody warm in general at the moment?

Yer, i've seen my M/B temps go up about 4 degs !!
i've now moved the pc from the corner of the room.
Seems better, but still it's rather hot outside

Open the windows ?!?! :p

I had the same problem, all I did was remove side cover, and direct a (external) fan toward PC Case, now CPU idle 35-36C, motherboard temp 38C, that is with an E6600 @3.2GHz.

Yeah two pcs in my house have shot up in temp, but givent hat the room they are in has also gone up a hell of a lot is hardly surprising. On another note, one of my machines needed a good clean, lot of dust clogging up fans and wrapping my components in a warm blanket of cat hair hell. So checks it free from extra insulation and cloggedness:P

An increase of 25C seems rather large though. I've also seen increases in temps, but only around 5C, and the room it's in gets extremely hot in the afternoons...

Are all your fans still running, etc?

Yeah everything functioning absolutely fine. I do like the idea of having a fan pointing straight at the cpu cooler as well though asmentioned earlier. Any ideas anyone?

/me clicks OCuK for a browse...

Aside from the obvious - checking that all your fans are still working and are clean - you may want to re-seat the CPU cooler and re-gunk it, if it has taken even a slight knock and isn't seated properly then the temps will skyrocket.
