I recently purchased an antec 950 to replace my hydro 620 as I noticed temps on my CPU where starting to climb. After installing I have noticed my idle temps are higher on my i5 2500k at around 45c, when running prime95 In-Place large FFts test I'm hitting 81c on some cores.
I have my I5 2500k at 4.5 GHz with 1.35v going through it but even on idle back at 1.6GHz its still on 45c.
I have refitted the cooler, cleaned and applied MX-4 with still the same temps. My main concern is my Mobo ASUS p8p67 pro has what looks like capacitors to the left of my CPU, the fixing block on the 950 covers them.
If I just place the fixing plate over the CPU it does seem to hit the capacitors when pushing down, however if I take the block off there is thermal paste covering the entire CPU.
Is 81c under load fine to run with or should I just bite the bullet and pop in to the shop on saturday and pick up.
