hi guys

got an AMD Fx 6300 chip, (spec below) and just fitted a cooler master seidon V120
AIO water cooler to it..
and i dont know what to think about the temps..

stock speeds, im idling at around 27-30c... but under load from Prime 95, i hit 52c..
52c on stock speeds, under full load??
that sound right to you?

Im a big overclocker, thats why i bought the AIO cooler, and ive always gone by the '60c temp limit' personally..
i dont like any of my chips going over 60 under load..

but this is only 8c off 60c, on stock speed...
doesnt allow much room for overclocking..

cheers

What was your last cooler for you to get to 4.9ghz.

Have you tried to reseat the cooler, can you hear the pump working or have you for got to plug the cable in.

Oops, sig meanto say 4.0ghz, as i had it running at 4ghz on a cheap air cooler..
But got it at stock to test stock speed temps on new AIO water cooler..

So 52c is good for under load??
How on earth do people manage to get 5ghz out of these chips, without rocketing temps?

would it be fine to push my chip over 60c??
i got by that rule, since the core 2 duo ages, my old C2D used to hate temps over 60c, often the computer turned off..
thats why its normally my rule

and yeah mate, the pump is plugged into fan header on mobo, since its a 3pin connector..
the pump seams silent, but the block has a blue LED, which is illuminated, so seams good :D

cheers

thanks for your replies guys

I removed the cooler, cleaned and replaced, with better thermal paste, and also to be 100% its seated correctly.
same temps as before..

i fitted another fan behind the rad, so its in a push/pull config..
temps have improved ever so slightly
49c under full load, after about 30mins...

Do motherboard headers supply less than 12v power then?

cheers

well gave it a little while, and temps got better,,
perhaps thermal paste has to be bedded in? or water pump?
or something

what ever it is... temps wouldnt even hit 50c under prime 95 load..
no matter how long i left it for..
i had set all clocks to stock for swapping coolers,
my chip is now sat at a comfortable 4.3ghz, and doesnt even touch 55c under load :D
23-26c idle...
