Hi guys I know water is not magic and it will only cool to a certain extent. with this in mind what sort of temps should I expect at idle(just browsing internet ect) and at load, while playing games or funning prime95.

Apologies if the post is long I am going to try and give enough information as possible.

what I am water cooling:

MAXIMUS VI FORMULA
(Via the inbuilt block)

Cpu

Intel I7-4770K

This is At idel overcloked at 4.6GHz with 1.32 volts(this was pre overclocked by Ocuk(motherboard bundle).

Case :

900d

Cooling:

Top of the case

I have a 480 rad(pulling air into the case with the fans underneath the rad(the fans are x4 Noiseblocker NB-eLoop Fan B12-3 - 120mm (1900rpm))

Rear of the case

140 (set as exhaust)Corsair Ar140

Front of the case

X2 120mm (corsair sp120) pulling air in.

On the top drive cage:

120 corsair sp120(red led ed)pulling air in.

Window side:
360 rad(hardwarelabs gtx extream gen 2(x3 Noiseblocker NB-eLoop Fan B12-3 - 120mm (1900rpm)and one Noiseblocker NB-eLoop Fan B12-3 - 120mm (1900rpm) by the side of it so it matches the rad.(Pulling air in , with the fans infront of the rad)

Loop order:

pump/res-out>flow meter-in>flow meter-out>480 rad-in>480 rad-out>motherboard block-in>motherboard block-out>cpu block-in>cpu block-out>pump/res-in.

Now one mistake I think I have made I did not check if there was a direction of flow for the flow meter(instructions hard to read and mostly in german)

model of flow metre :
Aqua Computer Flow Sensor MPS High Flow incl USB Port
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-177-AQ&groupid=962&catid=2138

Fan controller

Aqua Computer Aquaero 6 Pro USB Fan Controller

I have set all the fans to 50%(while I learn how to use aqua suite)

Temps/flow

At idle according to auqua suite(flow metre) water temp is 31.6c
flow is 198Ltr.

cpu temp-33c(according to realtemp)

Prime 95(ran at blend)

cpu=67c(according to real temp)
Acording to aqua suite flow meter:31.7

now other temps from aqua suite

480 rad temp =31.6c
360 rad temp=29.9c

ambient temp in computer oom I think is 25-29c
now a few mistakes I have made think I have made.

I have got temp sensors for 360 rad/480 rad, internal temp sensor, external temp sensor. I need to lable these and make sure what is what and label correctly in aquasuite.

I never checked what speed my pump/res combo was set at--idiot I know.
I also never checked if there was a flow direction for my flow sensor.

Anyhow guys does the temps sound normal. I was kinda hoping for better if im honest.

Appologies for the long post, I was trying to give as much detail as I could. as possible.

Please help if you can, or tell me if I have done something wrong.

Many thanks

Just to add when I run the small ftt in prime 95 my cpu temp hits 90c, this canot be right ?

Please help if youc an as I have no idea what has gone wrong.

The idles sound right but somthing is off on the load temps. My cpu (3820k) is a much hotter beast than yours but I barely break 56c under load and 31-29c on idle.

What thermal paste are you using? Some take a while to bed in but I still wouldn't expect 90c. On the bottom rad have you removed the 900Ds side panel? It makes quite a difference to airflow.

Edit: there's no flow direction on the meter.

As far as im aware the system is now bled. I cannot see any bubble sin the system.

It is rather difficult to take the cpu block of completely as one of the tubing runs runs from the cpu to the motherboard blocks. i have

untighned all the screws of the waterblock and tried to reseat it as good as i possibly can.

I have now sorted out my sensors for my aquareo:

Idle temps :

Inside the case sensor : 29.52c
360 rad temps : 28.98c
480 rad temp : 27.89c
outside of case Sensor : 29.06c

Cpu temp :32c (via aida 64 extream)

Running prime 95(Blend)

Inside the case sensor : 29.78c
360 rad temps : 29.94c
480 rad temp : 28.64c
outside of case Sensor : 29.34c

cpu temp:55c(via aida 64 extream)

Water temp via flow sensor is 31.6c

I am lost as to what could be wrong and kinda disappointed.

55C under load so 40C under rated max for the CPU so a 23 degree change under load seems about right as far as i know the 4770K runs hot no matter the cooling due to bad internal TIM.

Have you got 2 loops or just the one what are your GPU temps?

What sort of temps was you expecting?

It seems your RADs due to the minor change in temps underload are not struggling at all.

That all sounds ok - 55 degrees with 1.3v is a pretty good result for a chip that came with awful contact between the die and ihs. Mine used to hit 70 degrees easy. Have you bought it to bench or to use for games / applications. It would be rare that normal use would ever equal the stress that prime puts on a cpu! My water temps get higher as well because I have two 780's in my loop.

I do know the cpu id delided. I bought a overclocked extream bundle(motherboard/cpu/ram)

It is my every day gaming/driver

Thanks for the replies btq
