Tempted to start doing some track days. :)

I wasn't anywhere near 135, maybe 115.

I remember 135ish simply because Elliot could touch 140mph in his CSL I remember, he was on CUP's so greater corner exit speed and had AP brakes, hence brake later oh and he is a better driver too. :D :p

I will happily admit I drove my CSL quite gentley, never took DSC completely off, left it in track mode which was a mistake as it delayed putting power down out of the chicane meaning lost some speed on pit straight. But it was a lot of money and well I did not want to bend it so drove smooth and gently plus I was very careful negotiating traffic. But it did go to show how good the CSL was, even driven carefully with knackered brakes it was so quick around Donnington it was untrue. Will never forget lapping the F1-360 driver who approached me in the pits asking if it was super-charged, his face was comical when I told him it was standard. However I did get to go out in his Ferrari and OMG the sound. :D

oh I wasnt doubting the CSL was hitting 135, just stating how fast I was going. Indeed the M3 brakes were far more epic than my Civics were! piddly 282mm brembo and DS2500:p

Trust me, the CSL brakes wise was scary, they were completely shot, enough so for Firestar to suggest we don't do the last session. :D

Wheras Elliots brakes were sublime, truly mental. :)

1.2g in corners is impressive. To be honest you can't really compare road tyred cars with ones on semi slicks.

Bookatrack do spa days. 2 day trackday is £700 ish.

You won't get close to those speeds now, chicane has moved up the straight about 100 yards but you now get to Redgate much quicker.

Spa is quite far away, but not too bad at the same time, around a 3-4 hour drive from calais, a lot of people I know who've been combine it with a trip to the ring as it's only about 70 miles from it.
It shouldn't take anywhere near 4 hours.
You can do it in 3 at the speed limit, and the E40 between Brussels and Liege is almost always camera-free (apart from the one time I got caught..)

Either way, it's not very far at all.
The 'Ring is only another 80 miles away, but that's still a good 90 minutes due to the lack of motorway.
You can go up via the E40 again but it's almost 2 hours as it's 130mi..

But if you're going to Spa, it's silly not to continue to the 'Ring ;)

God those Mitsubishi Evo's are awful. Glad I didn't buy one of them.

i thought traction control / stability control would have avoided stuff like that ?

I've never dared push my car to its limits in the wet so dont know what its like. Have they turned TC / ASR off or are the systems not capable of recovering from the driver going too fast into a corner ?

Yes they don't have PAS. That's Physics Avoidance System :p

I absolutely love the EVO at 1:15, seems incredible fast round that corner and love the flamage out the rear exhaust, supposedly they all do that with stage1 remap. Shame later on that same EVO X seems to come close to understeering in the barrier, bet he was really kacking himself at that point.

Regards to traction system saving you, well if you go to fast into a corner you can't change the laws of physics and only so much it can do.

Plus EVO 9's and older just have AYC which is where the car does fancy diff magic to try and keep things together, but still won't come in like say a DSC/Traction syste as they don't have one. The newer X however does have S-AYC I believe which eans its has Active Stability Control, very similar to DSC but not quite as intrusive, more similar to the M-Track mode on the CSL and this will help apply brakes, cut power etc. to help regain control but most on trackdays always turn on the traction system simply as those with X's say switching the system off gives a much better drive.

All I can say is on the road an example would be:-
Coming upto small sharp bumpy roundabout, throw car in at 40mph, traction control kicks in, resulting can't get on power and much slower speed.

Switch of ASC and same roundabout, chuck car in at 40mph, exit on the power sterring hard resulting in maintain corner speed and exiting quicker.

Basically turning ASC off means you can go faster, get on the power sooner etc.

Yes it was an epic day, only let down by the knackered brakes on the CSL, at one point Mark (Firestar) was genuinely worried as the seats were vibrating and moving in the car as the disc were so badly warped.

Haha, cracking day all round, when fully functional the brakes in the CSL aren't exactly its crowning achievement, but when going down Starkeys Straight at 130 - 140 with a tyre wall comming up and the whole car shaking whilst trying to slow down to 40 - 50 for the Esses does kinda make you think, hmm what if the disc explodes or hmm what if the wheel locks up due to the brakes becoming stuck on.

Tbh it felt like you had a boot full of vibrators and someone had turned them all on :p

Gibbo, have you modded your X yet mate? Not keen on the colour of yours but it's a magnificent machine for sure. I reckon in about a years time they might come into budget for me and having never owned or driven a AWD car it would be rude not to give one a try :D

What kind of power figures are people pushing with stage 1/2 tuning?

HI there

FQ-300's can be had for circa 19k if you hunt around. One went for 15k recently with minor body panel damage.

FQ-300, FQ-330, FQ-360 all use the same turbo/engine.

FQ-330 has hardpipe intercooling kit and HKS filter plus remap over the FQ-300.

FQ-360 has some modifications to the exhaust system I believe, different fuel pump and again a remap. Plus 360's have the carbon bits, half leather recaros etc.

As they are all the same you could just buy an FQ-300, add the hardpipe kit, uprated fuel pump, full exhaust system with de-cat and TRL downpipe, then add remap and the results tend to be 400-410BHP with 420-440lb/ft.

If you got for the SST the transmission in stock form can handle around 390BHP with approx 360Lb/Ft. It can handle more but requires special cooling.

Will never forget lapping the F1-360 driver who approached me in the pits asking if it was super-charged, his face was comical when I told him it was standard. However I did get to go out in his Ferrari and OMG the sound. :D

That guy was awesome, I went out with him for his first session and he span it on the first corner, then almost lost it with you behind him on the chicane, made being a passenger for a session even more worth it!

I will never forget it, he simply could not drive. :D

Him coming up to me saying what you done to it and his face when I replied its standard, LOL. :D

Still I enjoyed going out in the Ferrari, its gearbox was epic, the sounds was just out of this world and watching the two Elises pass him with relative ease was funny.

What was even more funny was when he went out with me and those same two Elises I passed with ease in the CSL. :D
