Tempted To Upgrade But Little Cash...

Hey guys,

I only game at a maximum of 1366x768 resolution (HDTV) but my current system doesn't allow high frame rates on newish games when all the graphics options are cranked up.

I'm tempted to upgrade my graphics card to a 8800GTS. I would like improved gaming performance and can only spend about £100. Selling my X1900XT and buying a 640MB 8800GTS would cost about that (from other website).

I'm wondering if it's worth the money though. If I notice a good increase in gaming performance then it's worth it to me. Otherwise I would rather keep the cash for spending elsewhere. I realise I will be bottlenecked by my system, but cannot afford a complete upgrade. Does the bottleneck mean I will not notice much of an improvement at all?

Has anybody made the same upgrade, if so what are your thoughts now?

Is it worth buying now or waiting for prices to drop (new 8900 series on the way?)?

I'm sure you're right but I can get the 640MB version for less than £40 extra. Seems worth it considering that I may upgrade to a 1080P (1920x1080 resolution) TV within the next year or so.

Thanks for input. :)
