So i recently,
pre-ordered a 1080 FTW to replace 980 Ref SLI
(which as you know all ref throttle to base clock)

This will be my First EVGA card & looking forward to it However i'm considering upgrading to a Classified, would like some help on classified benefits/drawbacks please?

Give some background, i generally do not OC GPU's However this may change.
I want a cool & quiet card & considering the Classfied got a bigger heatsink this maybe help (bit of a noise freak ;)) & will give a faster card out of the box.

Drawback
£80+ (or 160 if SLI'ed)
late june for release if not longer
could be put at back of the OCUK line
Clocks TBD
EVGA website shows 1080 classified not to exist

Benefits
Could be cooler/Quieter
Guaranteed higher Base/boost over FTW (i would aspected)
"top of the line" card

Not sure:
Might get higher resale value?

can you help us out?

Classified is on evgas on site. At the bottom of page shows specs minus the base and boost speeds (ftw is also missing) http://www.evga.com/articles/01007/evga-geforce-gtx-1080/

Classified should in theory OC better with beefed up power delivery and possibly run cooler if the heatsink is slightly taller (= beefed up). Of course remains to be seen how aftermarket cards manage as thus far the msi and strix videos I have seen are only okay and top out where the FE cards do, even with thier higher power phase count.

IMO the ftw is a nice sweet spot in terms of price/ beefed up cooler and power delivery.

If you change gpu's now you go back in the queue. I dislike the red on the shroud and backplate. I was thinking about getting the classified as well until I saw that. Very pleased with the FTW and looking forward to testing and playing some games.

Just noticed the FTW looks the same height as the classified, extending above the bracket. But the specs on EVGA's site says it is 111mm, just like the AC.

oh sure they will be quieter but compared to air water is louder fan+pump

i hated my ref for loudness

Where do you have PC within ear height ??

My hybrid is quiet, the fan connects to my fan controller so I can set the RPM and the pump is also controlled too. It is tons quieter than a ref or custom cooler.

I don't, but my ears are very senestive,
I'm used at work to hear things others can't.

Evga hybrid 3 loctions were noise is admitted
Small fan
Pump
Rad fan

= louder overall than 2 large fans 110m vs 120 and a 60 + pump
