Ten questions Science Must answer

If we assume the van is a sealed container, then no. The pigeons won't be resting on the floor of the van any more, but the thrust they generate to keep themselves airborne would push the van down with equal force. That is, before all of the pigeons die of asphyxiation and end up resting on the van floor anyway.

But, in a normal van? Perhaps with a window left slightly ajar?

Do you eliminate the victims of the problem or the cause of the problem (us)?

China have shown the world how that sort of system can work with the introduction of its one-child policy. The outcome has been an ageing population, infanticide, gender imbalance and huge numbers of abortions. Not desirable!

The global population growth curve has shown that the boom has happened and the curve is flattening off now. Since we can estimate what the population will grow to, we can start to plan global development around those figures. So hopefully we won't see a day when births are restricted worldwide.

I guess a Logan's Run deal might work better. It tackles all of the problems you listed! I suppose the levels of orphans would sky-rocket, though.

That could work! But my time would be up :(

Good looking film, going to get me a copy of that.

Hmm list seems fairly random, but I suppose that just shows the vastness of the area people describe when they say 'science'.

I don't think science 'must' answer any questions. There are all sorts of things I'd like 'science' to find out, but the one that popped into my mind just now was:
How can we produce and maintain a fusion reaction here on earth?

True.

Its a stupid question for stupid people.

The force of the pigeons lift is pushing back down on the van with the same force.

Therefore nothing changes.

And the force of a keyboard hitting a head? Do you also know the oh-so-serious answer to what happens when you put an airplane on a treadmill?

Logan's run is pretty good, a recent film i saw called The Island (Ewan McGregor and some hot yank blonde) reminded me a lot of it but without the "old cat man" which on reflection wasn't so good.

That would be the fine Scarlett Johansson.

If you was to drop out of a Plane standing on a 10ton slab of concrete Could you just simply jump off at the last moment Before it hits the ground and be fine?
