Hi Guys,

Bit of background info, current power distribution solution for our alarm zones isn't 100%, so would like a proper bus bar, we have around 20 zones each needing positive and negative supply (12v).

I'm looking for a terminal style block which splits one input into multiple outputs, i've found a few bus bars but not 100% what i'm after, would like something terminal block style but with a constant bus at one side.

Closest i've come is this on ebay US: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8-Way-Ter...673?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a1b44b771

Anyone help / have any ideas?

Thanks.

Isn't something like this a better solution?

12V DC 20AMP 18 OUTPUT POWER SUPPLY

All the outputs are fused and you are not reliant on an alarms PSU to supply them.
There are other versions with space for battery backup if required.
like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CCTV-12V-8A-9ch-Switching-Power-Supply-with-Backup-/150390461089

You could even allocate a 9 way version for each zone.

Interesting idea, rather keep everything inside the alarm case and use the existing power supply, which is monitored by the system.

It depends on the loading, nearly all alarm panel power supplies are basic in design and don't really have much spare capacity (tiny capacitors, tin foil heatsinks). A separate supply also helps with line noise, so you are not trying to run a microprocessor from a transformer and at the same time driving switching loads through 100m of cable (= huge aerial).
I added line filter circuits to my PIRs as there is nothing on these things to cope with common mode noise.

All the cables are screened etc, I just noticed that Texecom do a fully monitored power supply box, probs go for that and be done with it.

Yea, they want you to be a registered installer I think  Had similar issues when trying to decide on a system to buy, ended up on some reseller website looking at manuals.

Will take a proper look at the manual tomoz :)
