Hi

I have a requirement for a terminal emulator for work and use Teraterm, to connect to terminals, making use of the teraterm scripting language.

However some of my colleagues have gone down a differnet route and are using IVT VT220, using some scripting also, unfortunatly the languages are proprietary and arn't compatible.

So what does the OCUK community prefer (IVT VT220 or Teraterm) and Why?

Cheers guys, guess you don't utilise or require the scripting languages offered by ivt/teraterm ?

No, to be fair my terminal requirements are fairly simply. Bit of SSH work, some telnet and talking to industrial equipment via serial!

For what its worth I use SmarTerm - it has it's own inbuilt variant of VB for scripting and you can easily interface with it from your own external apps if you needed to. There is a free trial and if you want the best prices for licenses go to Esker directly.

I have tried Teraterm in the past and if I remember decided against it as there was no way to interface with it from an external application.
