Following on a bit from my Server 2003 thread...

I managed to stop my server from allowing access via RDC. I originally installed just filesharing, and it was fine with that, then for some reason installed the TS and then removed it, which stopped RDC working.

I have now reinstalled TS, as I would like to have my RDC ability back. The problems are, that I don't understand the Licensing thing, which I'm guessing is important, and I'd like to be able to leave the server logged onto one user, and still be able to RDC as an Admin from my main PC....which suggestted to me I'd need TS.

Also, if I don't need TS, how do I get RDC to work again without TS installed? - Fixed that, was me being thick...still interesed to know about TS and multiple logons. :)

You will be able to use TS for 180 days (trial). After which you will need to install a licence server and some TS licences.

Yea, I installed the License server, but I didn't understand what the lisences were, and MS's site/helpy thing really doesn't shed much more light on it.

All I know is for TS to work you need to have licenses, it doesn't say what ones you need, just that you need some, and it says something about phoning them to get them...so I figure it really can't be worth it that much for a home network really. :)

You can have 2 concurrent connections without TS.

Yep, when you install Terminal Services, you get the option to install TS in admin mode, which only allows two concurrent connections, coupled with using the mstsc /console switch you can have three screens going on one server with no additional TS CAL's which are not cheap btw :)
