Yep, it looks like it's back on.

James Cameron is said to be in "early talks" to get Deadpool director Tim Miller "to direct a reboot and conclusion" to the franchise, with Cameron acting as a "godfather," a term that I can only presume means something on the order of creative consultant/executive producer or something. All of that wording comes from Deadline, who broke the news, and if you're confused about how something can be both a "reboot" and a "conclusion" for a franchise, well, you aren't alone.

David Ellison of Skydance is putting the money behind the project, which is said to be looking for "top-flight science fiction authors" to help Cameron and Miller right the ship. There's no other information out there, and again, the Deadline report is a little confusing as to whether this is something that would ignore the lesser-regarded Terminator movies like Salvation, Genisys, or even the 'honest it's not really as bad as everyone makes it out to be' Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines.

Please but 3-5 in the bin and give us a decent final film.

Personally don't have a problem with 3. The crane scene is really good IMO.

Salvation is poor. Only thing I remember from Genisys is Sarah Connor seems to have shrunk a foot or so (Although I did like it being mentioned in the film she's a bit short)

3 was such a dumbing down it felt so bad, a new generation of PG-13 Terminator films which I am not down with.

Watched Salvation the other night and it was pants, best thing about Genisys was defintiely Emilia Clarke, old Arnie was also pretty good in it.

Definitely agree with that.... A new T6 movie needs to be inline with T1 and 2. Its needs to be unforgiving with none of this PG crap

I may be in the minority but I actually like Salvation, It has some great effects, some great characters, fantastic sound and a I never had a problem with the Arnie scene. Don't get me wrong its not perfect, the acting is a little ropey and the story is a bit shonky as well... Not as bad as Rise of the machines and Genysis tho.

3 wasnt very good but take it for what it is. In that its the transition between T2 events and Skynet launching the nukes. There is no need to revisit 1-3 take it on from 3 onwards and forget the other two. Makes sense.

Please!, no cheesy one liners, PG-13 nonsense, CGI Arnie(s) and dodgy smiles.

Take the quality back to T1 & T2, dark, gritty and serious!

"The future is what we make it!"

Don't get how people are saying to go back to the dark versions of 1 & 2.

1 was dark and gritty a sci-fi horror, but 2 wasn't and was much more of a standard sci-fi film. They were both brilliant however.

For me 3 was just poor. I quite liked Salvation and Genysis, but feel the whole story arc has become over complicated and messy. Not sure how they get passed that. They tried following on from the nukes in Salvation and they tried the re-boot of sorts in Genysis. Not sure where they go from now.

The original is the only Terminator I need. The sequels haven't come close, even the second which seems like a kid friendly remake.

Conclusion: JUDGEMENT DAY IS INEVITABLE!

Yes, and that means never ending reboots of The Terminator are also inevitable, until judgement day actually happens and puts mankind out of his misery. :p

This thread is about Cameron's planned reboot, but it would seem the guy who owns the company that rebooted The Terminator franchise with Genisys, is planning another reboot or maybe a follow up to Genisys despite announcements the day before that any plans for a follow up had been canned! WTF?

Whether he's trying to get another reboot in before Cameron gets the rights back, I have no idea. This **** is more complicated than the convoluted nonsense that was Genisys.

So, a rebooted reboot of a reboot?

I want to say, surely Hollywood cannot be that stupid to reboot this yet again, after Genisys and a follow up is more likely. It's Hollywood though, so.......

Well thanks to Deadpool and now Logan, non horror franchise R rated films are back making money at the box office again.

Could mean a decent film at last with no need for a family rating.
