Double explosion' in south Spain
Breaking News

Two explosions have been heard in Malaga in southern Spain, local officials say.

The loud blasts were heard across the town and prompted office workers to run to their windows, local government officials told El Mundo newspaper.

However, it was not immediately clear what had caused the blasts, or where exactly they happened.

KLM plane in German terror alert
Breaking News

German commandos have arrested two men on a Dutch aeroplane at Cologne airport, police say.

A Somali, 23, and a Somali-born German, 24, were detained after a months-long surveillance operation and were suspected of planning attacks.

The men had intended to carry out "holy war" and police found suicide notes in their flat, a police official told German television.

The KLM passenger carrier had been bound for Amsterdam.

The plane was stormed at 0655 (0455 GMT) , police spokesman Frank Scheulen told AFP news agency.

The two men were removed from the plane, which had been preparing to take off from the airport in western Germany, reports said.

No one from KLM was immediately available for comment.

Update on the Spain "blasts"

I live in Arroyo De La Miel in Benalmadena and heard the bang this morning at 9:40... According to the newspaper of Southern Spain SUR at 10:48 (9:48 UK time), the Spanish M.O.D. confirmed that the bangs were caused be two aircraft passing the barrier of sound.

Erm well unless the pirates are directly funded and backed by the Somali government then Ukranian Army won't do much and even then there's not much chance of them going all the way down there to recover those tanks (they have around 1200 of those T72s, I imagine Sudan would be more angry than them).

They attack all kinds of ships, any target of opportunity really. I was on RFA Sir-Galahad back in the 90s shortly before they were due to sail through the Gulf of Adan, the weapons dude was showing us how they mounted GPMGs up and down both sides to convince potential pirates to try other ships instead. Apparently the pirates apparoach in speedboats and take the ship before most of the crew realise it's been boarded. They steal the ship and ransom the crews off to their countries.
 
Yeah I thought that some of them tried to attack a US Navy ship, here's a link. I suppose a tanker won't look like a warship, still I bet the pirates got a rude surprise :p
 
Well according to dutch news it were 2 somalians ( 1 german somalian) arrested, they were watched for a while already and goodbye letters have been found at their homes.
