I was thinking or ordering a York exercise bike. I live in an apartment and live three flights of stairs up. When Tesco deliver will they just drop it off and expect me to get it up to my home or will they help?

You should advise them of the situation when ordering, the correct way of doing things would then be that they would allocate the job to a 2-man delivery team.
Otherwise you'll end up with a lone driver with a short temper, and a long van full of goodies that he's 2 hours behind delivering because every third drop has been a right PITA. :)

I know that when we lived in a second floor flat we had to make sure that furniture delivery people were aware of this.
So when we bought washer/dryer, fridge/freezer from Comet they did indeed cart them up the stairs for us.
But we had to make them aware of it all at the time of purchase - no point surprising the delivery men as they will just laugh.

Every time I've ordered something particularly big and heavy (furniture etc.) I've told the company at time of ordering, and every time the delivery chaps have turned up with the attitude "sorry mate, can't help you there, we just deliver to the door."

In fairness, the delivery guys have then done it every time, it's just crap communication between the supplier and the delivery chaps :-/
