Does anyone know if the Hudl in-store stock levels are reasonable at the moment or are they still like gold dust to get hold of? Been staying with family over Xmas period but wanted to try and pick one up on our journey home. We pass about 4 different Tesco stores on our way home, is it worth a look, has anyone seen these in-store in recent days?

Ta.

Depends on the store :)
If you're passing a Metro, then they're more than likely to have stock, although depending on the store you may have a little trouble finding someone who knows what they are.

Superstores, stock is more iffy. If they've got a dedicated section for tablets & laptops I'd expect not, but smaller stores without the dedicated section are a better bet, although I'd not make any guarantees on the subject.

Cool, ta. Just sent the missus out in the wind and rain on a 'Hudl hunt'. :D

If she cant grab one I assume I can order one online or do the click and collect thing, haven't really looked. It's either a Hudl or a 2012 Nexus 7 but I've no idea how they compare.

I have both of them.
Hudl - higher res screen, nice sound, good visibility in direct sunlight
Nexus 7 (2012) - auto brightness, smaller case, reasonable sound/volume, turn on/off with magnetic case

Both are easy enough to root, nexus 7 will get a few more updates to the latest android (currently running 4.4.2) - hudl is UK-only currently, so not many alternate roms/kernels available, but if you are not wanting to root/update the OS then it is good enough

The biggest thing for me is the no auto-brightness on the hudl.
Can't say as I notice any difference in screen resolution, and I have them both rooted and playing through airplay speakers for sound. I use the nexus more often as it fits in my pockets easily and being a lazy toe-rag it is nice to just flip the case open and start using it

Hope that all makes sense!

Cool, ta. ;)

Just managed to pick one up in the 3rd local store I visited. First two stores had none and advised that I would be lucky to find one anywhere. 3rd store upon me asking at the electricals service desk if they had any in stock by chance, replied 'What colour would you like, we've got loads?'. :)
