Just to start this isnt a joke thread.

My daughter has autism and its really bad around food time.

She geneally only eats for evening meals
McDonald's
Dominoes
Chicken dippers
Turkey dinosaurs
Tesco potato letters.

Ive tried asda and mccains letters but she wont touch them.

Anyone have any idea who makes them for tesco or any tescos that still have stock (i'll go buy every bag they have doesnt matter how far away).

Is she associating the product by the packaging?

If so, why not try and 'trick' her and put the others into the Tesco packaging?
No never let her see that. She tried a mccains and new straight away and they look very very slightly sifferent and wont touch them at all now.

Even something as simple as food sounds like major hard work.

What have you done in the past when you cant get hold of her preferred foods?

I have a nephew that had a very hard early childhood where he had guardian after guardian for a time. At that time he pretty much only ate what he wanted which was nuggets and chips, mainly from McDonalds. After he was adopted by my family he refused to eat anything else and claimed to dislike everything. Skip forward 14/15 years and he isn't fat or anything but i do wonder about his health with such a limited diet that contains a considerable amount of salt and he never grew out of it. Obviously now he is an adult but its a bit weird when everyone has roast dinner or proper food at a party/occasion and he doesn't like any of it.

I've always had about 5 bags in the freezer so generally never happened. Worst case was treat of mcdonalds or pizza hut / dominoes (she can tell frozen pizza from take away as well and wont eat the cheap ones).

Might be a matter of time with that diet anyways.
She eats cereals, sandwiches, crisps, bananas, and has vitamin tablets just evening meals are a nightmare. Also have a neutritionist and shes fine at the moment but this isnt helping as its getting her stressed as well now and causing her increased anxiety

Can Completely understand your issues with nightmare at mealtimes. Can I suggest trying maybe an Aldis or Lidl? Or maybe even one of the Polish Food supermarkets that have popped up to see if they have any suitable alternatives that may be similar?

I myself have a child very particular about eating so I know where you're coming from
Popped into aldi on way home on wed and they didnt have any

Saintsbury's sell them too and they're made in Belgium so I'd be pretty confident in saying they were the same producer as the Tesco variant.

Yes tesco are made in belgium as well will pop in and grab a bag and give them a go. Thanks.

Good news, I estimate Kingston has around 20-30 units left in stock, on Clearance.

Just say the word, and I will clear them out of Potato shapes and hold them for you as long as you need !

Ps. I may even be able to drop them off in the near future, if you location is correct - as I regularly do the M6 to Preston for work!

Pps. They are in the clearance section right at the front of the Kingston store freezers, on the right of Aisle 11 - 1st lower bay.

Omg i really dont know what to say. Yes i work in stafford so right next to the m6. I will deffinatly have them please. I also have family who live in stafford so if ur driving up would be amazing.

To my knowledge no GP was ever involved other than to say that I looked healthy and I'd probably just grow out of it, my parent's never got me assessed for autism, I think they felt that a label wouldn't really help anything. I probably had a very unhealthy childhood but it doesn't seem to have affected anything now.

They dont do anything anyway. Since her working diagnosis 3 years ago and full diagnosis last year she gets no help at all. Wife saw a psychologist last week for the first time parent only apt. And just told us how to help her (everything we were already doing)

@passey89

Apologies for dropping off the radar, I have been ill for the last week - so no traveling up north.

I suppose we should find a way to unite you with this mountain of alphabets :D

If you could ping me a mail at the address in my Trust - we can get the ball rolling!

Defiantly no problem. Spent my weekend going round a few Tesco myself managed to grab 18 bags at the moment.

Will trust you my email address and we can arrange it all.

Thanks again & thanks to everyone else who has been helping.
