Tesco Roast in the bag chicken - silly question

So never tried one of the roast in the bag chickens before..The Tesco one says to slit down the front of the bag after 55 mins so you can baste it...errr which side is the 'front' ? I kinda think it means the top as you look down on it, so it can basted and then brown a bit on the exposed top.
 
cut the top off totally so it browns for the last 30mins or so and doesnt keep being steamed. also pop a small hole in the bag at the start
 
don't slit the top, slit one end only. You need the tent effect to keep the moisture in. Presume you have a baster syringe thing to do the basting with?
