The Mrs is looking to get a sim be it pay as you go or contract so that she can get data on her brand new mobile (nexus 4). The original idea was for her to put her work sim in it, however data isn't going to be enabled on it.

Anyway, I'm looking at the Tesco sim only setup...

Looks like some good deals that they have. What network do they use? Does anyone else have any other suggestions with regards to a sim only deal? My guess is she would do a max of 1gb of data in a month.

To be fair, a data only sim might be an option as well, but the hastle of swapping sims all the time might get to her.

Any other ideas?

Ovivo, 3 and Giffgaff are the best. Ovivo for great value, 3 for speed, Giffgaff for clarity, manageability and cheap out-of-allowance costs.

How does the GiffGaff goody bag work then? If you buy a £10 goodybag, that gives you 500 UK minutes, Unlimited UK texts, 1GB internet. These expire after a month yeah? So if you don't auto renew and forget to add another £10, then you switch back to their standard rates?

Yes, although on your account page you can set goodybags and credit to automatically recur/top-up. You can do this at any point, including when you buy your first one.

It also means you can quite easily change your tariff from one month to the next. Ovivio might let you do this too, I've never used it. I should also mention that Ovivo has good out-of-allowance rates too.

If your looking at three the 12 month contract is good on mobiles.co.uk (sim only) £6.90 per month for 200 mins 5000 texts and 500 meg. If you buy it through mobiles.co.uk though you get 7 1/2 months half price so overall it works out to £4.89 a month for all that.

You have to send them your bill at 6 and 8 months and they give you a cheque for £12 x2 so its £24 pound cheaper over the year than paying the £6.90.
