Interesting prospect. The idea of domestic batteries supporting the grid during low generation periods has long been talked about. This is the first example of a large company getting into this market. It will be interesting to see what subsidies they can farm to make this work.

Not really sure what Tesla can bring to the table here other than marketing with their brand name. The industry is so heavily regulated the scope for genuine competitiveness and innovation is tiny.
 
My uncle has just had a solar and battery install and was telling me all about it. Sounded really cool. He was talking about how you can (or will be able to) offer your battery up to the grid so they can pull from it when needs be.
