Hi all,

Looking to buy a Cherry Brown keyboard (CM Masterkeys Pro L) but never tried the switches. Can't find a store near me that stocks one either.

Anyone on here got one that I can poke to see if I like it? Or know of somewhere that may stock something like this?

I'm in Rugby, UK. Probs willing to drive ~20miles.

Thanks,

Val

Have you tried any mechanical switches before? To be honest I would just buy the keyboard from the Rainforest place - their returns policy is fantastic so if you don't get on with it, you've not lost anything.

They also sell switch test kits for £10-15 if you'd like to try a few for a direct comparison.

Switch test kit would be certainly better than nothing...
Though getting to see actual keyboard is still better being able to test it how you actually keep hand on keyboard.

But anyway MX Brown is good "safe" starter switch.
Unlike linear MX Red it has clear resistance before actuation point making it harder to accidentally press key if you rest fingers on keys.
While having same lighter bottoming force unlike MX Black making it comfortable to keep pressing some crouching/running key of game with little finger.
Unlike membrane/rubber dome switches "mechanical" switches register key press about half way of travel.
So fitting force curve is very important for avoiding accidental key presses.

Though one thing is "mechanical" keyboards usually being quite a lot noisier than typical membrane/rubber dome keyboards.
That might come as not so nice surprise if you haven't had chance to test them.
Logitech's Omron made Romer-G switch would have MX Brown like behaviour with dampening for sound of bottoming and key's upward rise.
