Hi all,
Just spent £1000 today at overclockers to setup a test bed before I spend £4000 on two uber pc's of gaming fun :)

This is basically a practice pc to mess around with overclocking and see whats possible with the basics

Motherboard
Abit IP35-E (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard Abit IP35-E (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Memory
OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2
CPU
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)
Cooler
Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/LGA775)
Thermal silver 5

Now im pretty new to overclocking so in specifics to the above what should I change voltages etc to get a nice easy 3ghz :)
I tried just taking it to 333 and it did the double beep of reset cmos

You should be able to get 3.0Ghz easily by leaving everything automatic and just changing the Front Side Bus to 334Mhz. Honestly, easy as that.

Its only if you are pushing past 3.0-3.2Ghz with these chips that you have to really start pumping up the Vcore and tweaking to get it "just right"

Did you set the RAM divider to 1:1 before upping the FSB to 333mhz?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if you could do 3ghz on stock voltages.
