Test Cancellations

Hi, unfortunately I failed my practical yesterday and now need to book a new test. Unfortunately there are no tests available in my area until February
What is the best approach for finding cancellations. Am I better off just checking the website regularly, or should I call them on the phone? Also, are cancellations common, or am I unlikely to get a slot this side of Christmas?

just check online, i checked every 15minuites and within a few hours i had a test within a week.
