Test upon Intel Core i7

Makes sense-not many games around at the moment are going to be limited by a 2.93Ghz quad, so a new CPU wouldn't get you much of a better framerate.

I take it the disparity between benchmarks and actual game performance is due to them being older games not coded to take advantage of the newer chips? What about newer games that are? If I only wanted to play half-life 2, I'd keep my current PC.

The way things are looking for gaming i will be keeping my current rig for a good while yet. No point upgraging for no gain. Oh well save some money i suppose. :)

Very correct indeed, keep your Core 2's for gaming for a while.

With the background knowledge towards these games, we know World in Conflict is a game developed specially with Direct 10 plus multi processes in mind, so here you can see the With the background knowledge towards these games, we know World in Conflict is a game developed specially with Direct 10 plus multi processes in mind, so here you can see the triumph.

Lol yeah from 61fps to 64 fps. I love the wording.

I imagine like everything it will all be rather expensive when first released. I would expect the lowest i7 to be about £200-250? Sound about right? The prices on DDR3 ram are falling regularly now so I would imagine they should be quite reasonable by the time i7 is widely available.

On the subject of motherboards, I'm not totally sure, surely there will be different spec motherboards that will vary in price. I'm guessing they will be similar to the X48 prices, with entry level boards at about £150 and top boards for about £250? Maybe more like £200-300 at first because of crazy introductory pricing?

looks like it scales pretty good...

cinebench its like 100 slower than a 3.2ghz current c2d, but for multithreading its faster and near exactly 4 times the speed of a single core... nice

however my favourite result is winrar!! nearly double the speed of a equal ghz current 45nm quad i use winrar on about 5GB of data daily and it would be extremely useful
