Testing 2gb of ram in memtest - doesn't work?

Do you really have to run 2 instances of memtest as it keeps telling me?

I've got 2gb of ram installed and the most it will check in one go is 1400mb. Anything more and it says I have to run 2 instances.

Is this correct or is my windows (xp) a bit borked?

Run Memtest from DOS with a bootable floppy or CD image.
