Hi there
I've just purchased 2x Corsair DD2 800mhz 2GB RAM modules from eBay and installed into my Asus M2N32-sli with Phenom 8450. Previously I had 3GB of RAM across 4 slots, I planned to use this in conjunction with 2x 1gb PC5300 running at whichever speed all four sticks would run at, the problem is I am currently using 32bit OS's, windows ran fine, but in Linux the new RAM caused errors.
I ran Memtest86+ and when 6gb is installed it throws errors, but the 4gb kit and 2gb kit both work fine alone, I read in the "memory sizing" part of the FAQ something about testing memory above 3gb not being safe, I assume this means that the program doesn’t support 64bit addressing?
Is there a program that will test it better for me or is there something wrong with my new sticks? (the old setup of 2x1gb and 2x512mb crucial RAM never ever had a problem)
Thanks
Jonny
