Testing a power supply

Hi all,

Just a quick question, is it possible to test a supply without it being in a system?

Yeah - you can get testing tools for a few quid that are made especially for the purpose.

Try searching for 'PSU tester' on google.

Also theres a wire trick you can use just to see if it turns on or not - but i must confess i don't know how to do that one.

If you want to turn it on without a system, just short the green wire with any of the black ones on the 20/24pin ATX connector.
