Testing a power supply?

I have been experiencing some random freezes in windows which once they've happend I can't get windows to boot from the XP screen or in safe mode. On some occasions removing hardware such as DVD/USB etc will let the PC boot into safe mode and I can do a system restore from which it will boot successfully. Otherwise only a reinstall will fix the problem.

I want to test my PSU, I've read some guides about testing the main power to the board using the 24 pin connector but most boards now have an additional ATX connector. I'd also like to test my PCI-Express connections as I'm running SLI.

Any help would be appreciated as I don't want to have to replace something that isn't broken.

Is it the Seasonic S12 that you are worried about?

Check out the OC website I'm sure they used to sell PSU testers, if I rember they weren't to expensive, othewise try google.

Tried google and not found a great deal. I bought a PSU tester from ****** and it was a right load of rubbish hope the overclockers ones were better.

That's exactly the same as the one I had, didn't come with any instructions so didn't have a clue how I was supposed to test anything other than the motherboard power connector.

Search the forums, I'm sure Huddy wrote a guide for testing your PSU on here somewhere..

Problem is, theres no easy cheap way of testing the psu under load. And that could be qhere your problem lies.
