Hi guys,

I read a bit back that it was possible to turn a psu 'on' but not connect it to a computer (to test it), is that possible? If so, how and is it safe?

Kind regards,

Rich

If you check the pinouts on the main power connector you will find the two that you can short to turn on the PSU

You can do this with a bent paperclip ot a twist tie.

While it's not only a bad idea to short connections on a power supply unless you know what you are doing, there is the fact that you will have no load on the supply so a fault may not show anyway.
You can buy little power supply testers which the supply plugs into and it puts a load on it to properly test the outputs.
