My case has been put back a week and i would like to test my rig, only to see if the components work etc, NO OC'ing, just installation of windows.

What’s the best way to test the rig ie what surfaces should i avoid putting the mobo on.

How can I fire up the rig with no power button on the board or case to switch it on.

Many thanks for your help; the rig is in my sig build log

(Alternatively should I wait :p)

Just put it on the box, should be fine.

Does the motherboard have its own on/off switch? If not you can bridge the pins for the power button and this will also turn it on I believe

Put the motherboard on a cardboard box (the one it came in is ideal) and build from there.

Do not put it on the anti-static bag or any other conductive surface.

You can switch on by shorting the 2 header pins for the power switch with a small screwdriver.

as per previous posts, just make sure you do it in a location where no people/pets are likely to bother you/knock it about :).
