Testing Anti-Virus

Hi guys

Is there a way i can safely test my firewall and antivirus software? like a file that looks like a virus but is a safe test file?

Just interested to know if my av is actually working!

There is the eicar test virus. Search for eicar on google and u shall find the official page which offers the test virus in different methods to see if your AV picks it up.

If anyones antivirus cannot detect the eicar virus test file then its time to throw it in the bin
