Testing hardware!

Quick question, had an Intel machine with the following:

Intel Pentium 4 3.2Ghz
4 GB (4x 1GB) DDR2
Intel mboard
Nvidia video card

Somewhere along the line this setup blew up! It wasnt the PSU as that is being used in the new build. The question is how to test the other parts in a different system (different socket processor) but same DDR2 new board (can faulty RAM take out a new mboard?)?

the ram can be tested in the new system and so can the gpu
