Testing mechanical keyboards?

I'm wanting to move from a membrane keyboard to mechanical. I've read and read but I've no idea what type of switch I want. (red, blue brown etc).
Obviously I need to "get my hands" on some. but I don't live and where near overclockers and those tester kits you can buy are mad expensive for what they are and I don't think an individual switch will give me info info to go on. Will be nothing like typing on a whole board.
Obviously the best bet would be to walk into a shop locally and test some out. But no idea where? I very much doubt the "big chain PC shops" will have a range of keyboards with different Cherry switches. Can anyone advise somewhere around Glasgow that I would be able to test some keyboard types? I realise there is that whole "cant post competitors" thing. But I only want to physically lay hands on some keyboards, decide my switch preference. Then I will likely buy from OCUK anyway. P.S. Just from reading I think I am down to Red, brown or maybe black I tend to wallop on my keyboard when i'm typing. But then the presses of WASD tend to be lighter. No idea what to do.

Expect a lot of clickety-clackety sound too ;) You could fit o-rings to dampen it but it'll still sound like a louder keyboard then you've ever owned previously I suspect.

Yeah, I suspect that will drive my wife mad (bonus) :)
I've done reading on reading on reading. And I've decided that MX brown switches are probably for me. So just going to jump on that. Thanks.
