I just ran small ffts for 9 hours to make sure my CPU overclock is stable @ 2.8GHz on stock volts, as my PC has randomly powered down on a couple of occasions, not sure why  Is it a good idea to run blend for a similar amount of time to make sure my RAM is comfortable at it's current timings/frequency/voltage?

Check your temps, it could be your mobo shutting down the system due to overheating. Also, check your voltages. It is unlikely to be a problem with your PSU (Same as mine, rock on!) but if it's faulty that could be screwing things. My money is on temps though.

Both temps and voltages can be checked with something like PC Wizard or Everest.

Temps are fine, idle is about 30c and after 9 hours of prime, the max temp was only 54c.

Yeah I'd check memory, whether that be via Orthos or memtest86, in case it's not liking the overclock with it's timings.
