Hi guys,

I got this server here it is a Dell R900.

I got Quad port quad 2.4ghz cpu's (4 (FOUR) XQuad 2.4ghz)

32GB of memory yes 32!

I'm going to get 2 SAS 73gb 15k drives and RAID 0 them

Was thinking install vista or XP even linux!

so what kind of tests shall I run on this? To test it to the fullest potential?

Thoughts and ideas are welcome guys.

You could test it by using some DC software (Distributed Computing), something like the Folding at Home SMP client would use all yours cores etc. The OCUK DC section is here.

Or you could use a program such as prime95 which puts load on the CPU/memory/mobo, but this is a stability program.

minesweeper lol that is funny

I'm just looking at super pi.

I shall try CPUz and temp software and see if I can post it here.

Blimey, thats a lot of cash.

Im not sure Vista or XP will recognise that many cores, or that much RAM. Think your best bet is a server based OS.

Why do you have this beast of a machine if you dont minde me asking?

lol

it isn't my machine gents just at work wanting to test it out

thing costs lots of grands for sure.

server based os? like what?

I'm now thinking windows 7 rc 64 bit
