Hi all, I have a 600w OCZ StealthXStream which I bought from OcUK about 16 months ago after my old one died horribly.
My old 8800GT also died, and I then had a string of RMA replacements from BFG, a large number of which didn't work. Long story short; I ended up with a 9800GT which works fine and a GTS250 which I just tried in my rig and which seems to produce the same error as almost half a dozen other BFG cards did. There were a LOT of problems with BFG cards at the time from customers all over the world, so I figured it was the cards rather than my system. Said error is a random lockup/black screen with no error or BSOD, occurring after a few minutes of gameplay, necessitating a hard reset.
The fact that the 9800 works fine suggests a problem with the 250, but I'm also wondering if perhaps it's a PSU issue? All the other replacements which didn't work were better models than the 9800, so I would guess the power requirements were also higher- obviously a 600w should do the job, but maybe if there's something wrong with the PSU then these lockups could be the result of that?
I was wondering if there's an easy way of testing my PSU- I've seen testers on fleabay for a few quid from HK and the like, and was wondering if this would be sufficient, or if theres an easier/cheaper/quicker way for me to do it at home?
