Testing your HDD

There is a program that people use, but I'll be damned if I can remember what its called.

When people sell a drive in MM they usaully post a screen shot to show the drive have no bad sectors.

Id be surprised if its causing crashes in games though, does it the PC crash any other time?

Yea i was advised by the OCZ forums to try this.

I am running 4 x 1GB of memory both ocz but two different types was getting the odd crash in games. So i took out 1 of the 2 x 1GB and the computer didn't crash after a long session on crysis and 4hours then took that 2 x 1 GB out.

And put in 2 x 1GB OCZ DRRII PC2 6400 EL Dual CH Gold Edition XTC so i was only running 2 x 1GB started experience crashing again. Anyway, my computer crashed again with blue screen saying memory dump. Then it would keep on trying to restart and would not post.

To make sure it was the ram was faulty. I put the 1st lot of 2 x 1 GB and it posted fine.

Now i have to RMA it =[.

Thanks for the help in this thread and others ones about this problem.

Either HD Tune or you can look in the Windows Event Viewer to see if there are any critical errors pertaining to bad blocks. If you do have bad blocks then your drive is dying. Back up now.
