Testing

I normally do a quick test with Prime and then just use my pc as normal and see how it gets on.

Asus real bench and normal tasks. Be very careful with p95 on haswell cpu's. Ver 28.5 in particular will cause extremely high temps at stock, (90+ under small fft) let alone overclocked.

v26.6 of Prime is best for Haswell clocking if you want to use that as a stress test.
Yep, ive heard it's a lot kinder with temps. Both my 4790k's hit the mid 90's under 28.5 at stock. So used real bench instead, max of 81c at 4.7 on 1.300v. If it plays games for me, im happy. And thankfully i havent had a single game crash since i clocked this one.:)

On the Asus real bench can I use it even though I havent got asus hardware. If so how many runs should i do to test initial stability to quickly pick up unstable oc

I tend to do about 50 loops of INT while having some games running in the background.

After that is complete I just use the system as normal and see what happens. I wouldn't recommend INT though, I hear it can really tax your CPU to a point where its probably dangerous to its life span. My CPU for example would hit almost 90c, which has never happened before even when running prime and other benchmarks.

Okay thanks a lot. I just re run asus real bench and on stock clocks Im getting 63 63 67 64 on cores and under prime I was only getting in high 50's. Also is the link that I provide above from original asus website?

What version of prime were you using? One if the tests in real bench does use AVX. But not as much as later versions of p95. 28.5 in particular is pretty sore on haswell. Id say the virus warning is maybe false, I've used rb from that link without issue on both my systems.

Okay thanks it's probably norton as you said. My temps are quiet high I think at stock 63 63 67 64. What you think ? I got h100i with sp120 fans

These are quite toasty chips in general, was the fans at max when you were performing the test?

Also, as per Setters question what ver of prime did you use?

For these temps I used real bench 63 63 67 64. Just now I used OCCT and I got temps 62 63 61 65 after 15min. My fans on H100i are running at about 800rpm as I dont want my system to be noisy
