Tethering App

Hello guys, I have a iphone 4 which is jail broken, I was wondering if anybody knew of any free tethering app? this is my first iphone so not sure if there is such a app. I have been using the free trial on PDAnet which worked fine, just wondering if there is a alternative.

iPhone Modem. There is a paid version, and it asks you to buy it during use, but you can just exit off it and it works fine.

I use Pdanet (not free), you could probably get wifi sharing free using a socks proxy on the iPhone. The paid apps are worth it though IMHO.

tetherme for usb tethering only, is a steal for only $1.99 (or was it $2.99?)

Worked great for me under XP, having problems under Windows 7 though after just upgrading the lappy.

I used that MiWi and it seemed to use my data up considerable faster teathering with my iPhone than when I used to tether with my HTC device.

Why do you need to have an app to enable USB tethering!?

You could do it with a simple website in iOS3. :/

Is this still possible in iOS 4? I presume the phone still needs to be jailbroken...?

Took a while to get my head around this thread... then I looked at the dates...

Tethering can be done via USB, WiFi and Bluetooth at the moment with the latest (non-jailbroken) iPhone software (not sure of the number). If you're in a 3G area it is very fast indeed, I have been most impressed!

How do I do this? And I mean I would like to tether without having a tethering package from my network...

Well since the tethering became available I haven't upgraded my plan, and the cost hasn't changed and I get tethering (I'm on vodafone, 18 month £45).

If you mean how do you do this literally, go into settings on your phone and select personal hotspot. You can then connect via bluetooth, usb, or wifi.

As said before works a treat, I can even play WoW with no lag in 3G areas

You will have to jailbreak and use something like MyWi if you don't have the personal hotspot option:

Thanks. I do have Personal Hotspot. However I'm also on Orange, who I have to set up a plan with if I want to tether that way. No matter, just jailbroken, MyWi is just the ticket
