Tetris Coming to the Big Screen

Find something embedded in popular culture with a strong nostalgic following.

Make film about it.

Bleed franchise dry.

Repeat.

Hollywood shies away from original material for blockbusters because it's too risky, no matter how ridiculous it sounds someone has probably done a risk assessment on the investment and worked out that a film based on an anicent computer game is going to be more profitable than new IP about a universe/realm nobody has heard of.

Well, we had Battleship already which seemed to have no relation to the game despite being 'inspired' by it. Next up we have Monopoly, Mousetrap and Operation

They messed up a lot with DOOM.
I would have started with a prologue as to why the marine gets sent to mars, concentrated on the clashes between Doctor Betrueger and Elliot Swann. Arnold Schwartzenegger would have played Sergeant Kelly, I would have put ALL the monsters in and have the entire facility nuked at the end.

King of Kong was a good film about donkey Kong.

Excellent film, also in the same vein

Man vs Snake : The Long and Twisted Tale of Nibbler
Ecstacy of Order : The Tetris Masters
High Score

All great arcade/game challenge films

Nope.
