Text aliasing in Chrome

Scratching my head with this one, I know Chrome is pretty bad at font anti-aliasing but this is an odd one.

Same element but rendered in slightly different colours - one nice and smooth with proper aliasing, the other pretty rubbish.

Any one with experience or ideas?

That is odd, but in my experience you're pretty much in the lap of the Gods when it comes to text aliasing in browsers. Have you tried Chrome on a Mac? I bet it doesn't have that problem.

That's right, it's fine in both instances in Chrome on a Mac, this just seems to be a PC issue.
