Text problem in Vista

Hi there,

I installed Vista last week and everything was going well until I saw the text. For example the taskbar text looked pixelated and bloated. The desktop icon text looked blurry with a red tint. Text like on this site looked very burry aswell.

I tried playing about with my moniter settings but to no avail (Samsung 913n). I turned cleartype off and it looked just as bad. I then took off all text processing (or something like that) and it fixed a lot of the issues, but created new ones.

Desktop icon text was a lot better as was text on this site. Taskbar text looked blurry though and still pixelated. Because of this change in settings, all bigger than normal text looked very jagged.

A google search brought up this link which I will have to try tomorrow as I've since uninstalled Vista. Google doesn't bring much else up so this is probably not a very well known problem.

Has anyone else had the problems I've described? Does anyone know of anything else I could do to fix it?

Many thanks to anyone who can help. :)

I would suggest getting drivers for your monitor.

Also ensure the resolution matches that of your native monitor resolution (if it is an LCD) and the refresh rate is that what your monitor manufacturer recommends.

All monitor drivers are installed and the resolution is correct. I played about with the refresh rate but it made no difference.

The text actually does look like the monitor is out of optimum resolution, if you know what I mean. But I know it's set to 1280 x 1024.

Anyone know how to stop this in Vista? Nasty red bleed in some of the text. It makes no differance if cleartype is on/off. Its at the native res, but thats a screengrab so its not the monitor anyway.
