Is it possible to have a text-stroke in CSS or any other way instead of using images.

You could write your text normally, then again a couple of points bigger in whatever colour you want the stroke to be and position it behind it, you'd need to change the letter spacing to get it looking right but it shouldn't be too difficult.
Disadvantage would be that non CSS supporing browsers and crawlers like search engines would see the text twice.
