Howdie,
I usually wear my leathers, however, as per this time of year, I'm off on the europeon tour... and this year is 12 days biking in Spain... going over some familiar routes and new routes, can't wait.

Now, last year I wore my (**** Poor) RST Black textiles which I bought 4 years ago when I first started riding. They've served a purpose BUT never been impressed, bad fit really now... and falling apart.

So, on the look out for something in a textiles that has the following (if it exists).

1). Jacket and Pants attached with good quality zip
2). Want them in a grey/black/blue if possible similar to below, however I need around 50% grey just to keep heat away.
3). Decent water proofing. Don't need fancy Goretex BUT if I et caught in an hours rain, something that will keep me 90% dry?
4). Comfy... not bothered about back armour as I use a Forcefield 4... but decent elbow armour and knee armour etc.
5). Padding in the ass region if possible.. hips or anywhere around there... not a massive one, but deffo a bonus if they do.

Pretty much it... currently look along the lines of these from REV'It... Sand 2's... quite a nice cut, seems to have a lot I want etc...

Budget wise, don't want to spend more than £500 tops on textiles as like I say, it's only more for tours in hot countries, otherwise I'd wear my leathers.

Anything goretex, won't be cool though, just breathable.

I normally get hot constantly generally (I sweat in an air con office :p) but don't have a problem on the bike as you're normally moving so not an issue.

It's not the colour you're after, but I have the RST Ventilator III kit for winter which is fairly cool with the waterproof layer in. I wore it with the waterproof layer in most of last summer and it wasn't too bad. The waterproof and thermal layers are (separately) removable which is nice. Never had a leak and have ridden in awful rain with that jacket.

See if you can try on the 3 or 4 series.

Have you thought about a nice light textile jacket and pants with no lining, then buy a separate waterproof 2 piece or 1 piece suit to go over the top?

Yer, I've got my basic RST Slice set which is shower proof at best so have a waterproof separates that I keep in my topbox for when it rains. The RST set are cool though as there's no lining to them (well a thermal one but I never wear it)

Cheers fellas, it's an absolute minefield isn't it the world of textiles. Leathers, I put on, liked colour bought lmfao. Was in and out in 20 minutes. Textiles though, so many poor quality ones out there... wants something that will last a while BUT be ok for 4 seaons as well... I think I'll stay away from goretex for the main reasons above, it's hot... and you then don't have a choice with bonded goretex... would prefer to just remove all linings... especially as next month is Spain, I mean... we got 20 minutes of rain last year.

The Sand 2 gear does look good review wise - the Outback jacket too...
Removable thermal liner, removable waterproof liner, 6 vents, 6 pockets etc. Like the Sand 2 it will take the HyperKewl Challenger insert if you really want to stay cool on the hottest of days as well. Add the Sand 2 pants and the jobs a goodun.

But like anything, try the kit on somewhere first.

Agreed the more I look at it the more I know it'll be perfect for my use.

yeah, trying to find somewhere that does it so I can try on and buy... that#s within 50 miles

In my experience waterproof kit that is cool in hot temps doesn't exist. Last couple of tours I've done I've left my expensive goretex textiles behind and taken mesh textiles and waterproofs. Mesh gear feel like riding in T Shirt and shorts, but isn't waterproof and only really works above 20 degrees. In Germany where it was 30 plus it was a god send. Cheap waterproofs adds another layer for when it rains or gets cold.

I have this jacket, and some Held trousers
