Texting from a PC to a mobile phone

Hi all at work we currently have a pager system if there is an emergency the reception page people and we call in from the nearest extension/mobile to find out where we are needed, now they have got us all mobile phones and are looking for a system to be put on to a PC running XP to allow the reception to send a group text to all the mobiles on site 20 maybe is there any software out there that you know of that we could try.

depending on what make your mobile phone is, u could use phonetools or WellPhone

Hi thanks for that there all nokia phones im not too sure on the make ill have a look and re post with model number.

Not exactly a program but we use a service called Kapow for exactly the same thing http://www.kapow.co.uk. You have to pay per text message but all you do is send a email to them at <phone #>@kapow.co.uk and then put the message you want as the subject. They they send it onto the phone as a text message.

Hi thanks for that, looks a good system, do you have a back up system in place??

Nokia PC Suite will do what you want. Just connect the Nokia phone to the PC, and text away - to either groups or a person.

Not as such. Unfortunately we are reliant on them being alive.
