Hey,

Hoping I can get some help here to find out what's causing this and fix it... This is the exact error that I get: http://imgur.com/dtvKidO

For those that don't want to click the link, it reads "Texture -> Map failed: 0x887 a0005 0x887 a0007. Your video card or driver froze and was reset. Please check for possible hardware/driver issues. This can also occur if you have enabled opencl in x264 custom settings." (I haven't).

The error comes from OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) though after searching around on Google it would seem it's very rarely actually related to OBS, and is more an indicator of a software/hardware issue.

It basically causes a 2-3 second freeze then I get that error pop up generated through OBS and a pop-up at the bottom right with the generic "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" message

I've had this GPU for about a month now, it was a completely new replacement after my previous one had a fan issue and other than this I've not had any problems. So for about a month now I've been on a fresh install and I'm using the 14.12 driver for this duration.

I'm unable to tell if this happens during certain gameplay or only whilst streaming; what I can say is that for the first three weeks of the month I had no crashes and then for the past week I've been streaming and had this occur twice, may just be coincidence.

Not sure where to start unfortunately :p

Here's my specs:

Windows 7 64
Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell)
Gigabyte Z87-HD3 Intel Z87 (Socket 1150)
Seasonic G series 550w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply
Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3
MSI R9 280X Gaming Edition OC 3072MB

Thanks in advance

If it only happens while streaming then its a software issue and maybe you should try reinstalling.

Well ****,

I installed all available windows updates, completely reinstalled my gpu driver and OBS resetting basically everything related, and had it occur again whilst streaming.

Had this happen again whilst using the aforementioned beta drivers.

This was the first time it happened leveling 1-77 (1 day, 1 hour, 30 minutes) so now I'm going to try it without streaming and see if the crash still occurs - given how sporadic it is though, it may take a couple of days to see if it still happens.

In the meantime, if anyone can offer any further advice that would be appreciated.

Hello Afran. I created an account just to post on this thread here. This issue is not related to AMD alone. I am on Intel and this happens to me as well. Currently trying to find a work around myself.

Did you see this crash again without OBS running?

@Caliko - Are you having this specifically within Path of Exile, too?

This crash is indeed occuring without OBS running, I've had two crashes today whilst not streaming and running practically barebones (no open browsers and whatnot).

@ThaReaperGuy - Not possible unfortunatley, however I can say that my previous r9 280x also suffered the same issue within Path of Exile. I had somewhat forgotten about it as had taken a ~6 month break from the game.

So it's happening on both the retail driver and latest beta drivers. Not sure what else to try.

Crashed again today trying out new (older) drivers, 14.9 so at this point happening with 14.9, 14.12 and 15.4.

Only occuring within Path of Exile - Currently speaking with their support to find a solution and would naturally appreciate any advice given here aswell. :)

No this happened to me in ArmA III and Witcher 3 as well.

I found a solution that works so far and I haven't experienced the crash since I did this. I'm not sure what GPU you have but I am using NVIDIA.

So what I did was go into the NVIDIA control panel and set 'Power Management' from Adaptive to Maximum Performance. Ever since I did this I have not seen that crash. So whatever GPU you are using, try to find the equivalent option and see if it yields the same results.

Still having this issue. Have tried countless solutions suggested by Grinding Gear Games and yet to find a working fix for this.

This is what we've tried so far to no avail.

- Tried multiple drivers (14.9, 14.12, 15.4, 15.4 as well as a few others)
- Installed all Windows Updates
- Tried running Path of Exile on minimal settings (despite not having FPS issues)
- Tried running Path of Exile with -nosound enabled
- Installed Microsoft C++ Redistributable 2013
- Re-installed DirectX
- Each time tried a different driver, cleanly installed via Driver Uninstaller in Safe mode then installed normally
- Ran the MrFixIt found here; https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2665946

One thing they suggested was to downclock my GPU to standard/stock settings using MSI Afterburner. I'm not comfortable doing this though as I've absolutely no knowledge of overclocking and the like.

Other than that dry of ideas what to do to try fix this.
