Has this for a while now but I can't see any 10 inch Android tablets which are leaps and bounds ahead of this one, even the price retailers are asking for them is still holding as they were 12 months ago.

Is there anything on the horizon?

The 101 is pretty old now, plenty of better stuff out.

IMO the best ATM is the TF700, although if price is a concern the TF300 is nearly as good and much cheaper. Both have much faster CPU and graphics, with the TF700 being thinner and having a 1920*1200 display (everything else is still on 1280*800). Theres also the Galaxy Note 10.1 but it doesn't have a keyboard dock like the transformers if that bothers you. It does however have a wacom stylus "S-Pen" and the fastest CPU/graphics of any Android tablet.

If your not worried about changing ecosystem I'd wait until Windows 8/RT is out before choosing a new tablet, first models should be out end of October.

If you definitely want to stick with Android there may will be new stuff based on Qualcomms new quad core SoCs coming late this year or early next year, although that's pure speculation.

IMO no, I currently have an ipad3 because my TF101 broke, if it hadnt of broke I would have been perfectly happy with the TF101 because I find the ipad annoying.

edit: to clarify, I bought the ipad because of the shoddy build quality of the TF101

The answer is yes but the problem I have is justifying something else

I got the TF101 on release and still use it daily, really just for web browsing and actually as radio/music in the kitchen through a bluetooth speaker.

I do fancy a nexus or newer Samsung Tab 2 but I just couldn't get enough £ in return/sale for the TF101 to make it a reasonable change

As said it has its "features" the build quality was poor, mine creaks, battery was iffy to begin woth but ok now, and bleed isnt the best either, but im not using it regularly enough to bother me, less so since i got my S3

Also the new tabs dont offer too many more features other than speed, infact id most likely lose the attachable keyboard

This interests me to. I've had my TF101 since last May now and don't really use it very often to be honest but theres always that niggling feeling of wondering whats better.

The fact Jelly Bean is looking unlikely for it i wonder if thats the end of the road as far as updates go.

There's always XDA, something doesn't need to die just because it no longer receives official updates.

TF101 builds quality was fine I think, and has put up with a lot at the hands of my 2 year old girl (It's my wife's).

Is anything better? Definitely. Not sure there is anything worth upgrading to, unless you need the video or game performance from it though.

I'd probably keep the TF101 for a while but if you're wanting an upgrade go for the TF700. The TF201 is too riddled with problems to justify purchasing. Have a look at others like the Note 10.1 or Acer's HD offering too.

It's not offically out but as said, it's on the tainforest. Last time I checked it was with a french layout keyboard though?

Reviews seems very good for it though.

Had the tf101 and upgraded to tf300t.. biggest change is the build quality. The tf101 squeaks and creeks all over. The tf300t is solidly built. UI is identical, but performance wise the tf300t is a lot smoother for day to day use.
