All,

Just pre-ordered the orange box for Episode 2 and Portal and while I am waiting for Wednesday I thought I would have a go on Team Fortress 2.

What the hell is going on?

I have never played the original and my online gaming only consists of a few rounds of deathmatch after completing games like Medal of Honour, Call of Duty and HL2, but I get bored of online very quickly and never got into it at all.

I have to say that in the couple of hours I gave it last night I was enjoying it, I played mostly as a medic and joined up with a heavy for some good teamwork.

Does anyone know of any game guides or simple info on the game and characters? Usually for that sort of thing I would look on gamespot but they have nothing. I know that the game isn't technically out yet but any help would be appreciated.

I jut read through a bit of background on wikipedia and appreciate it a bit mroe now.

I understand the objectives and whatnot, it is pretty straightforward as you said but it was just bedlam when I started last night with some games only lasting a minute. You just didn't have time to think.

I could see that with evenly matched teams it would be a lot of fun.

I was just confused about the characters - nine characters each with 3 or so weapons and skills is a lot to take in!

Will have a read of the guide suggested above and have another play tonight.

Appreciate the detail there DJammy!

Have to say I played again last night almost exclusively as a medic, you can rack up good scores by helping people and occasionally kill a few with the old syringe gun!

A few quick questions if you don't mind.

Is there team damage? I reckon not as a few people seem to attack players on occasion, also what about Demoman's genades?

How do teleporters work?

Is it easy to bind keys to say standard things? EG as medic saying that I have ubercharge would be useful so the guy I am with will actually move rather than wasting the charge?

Thanks for any more advice.

Thanks Masterdog.

Teleporters are built by engineers - they build an entrance and an exit, and once both are built they can be used by players to shortcut the distance between spawn and objective. They take a few seconds to charge up between uses.

But how do you use them? Is it simply a matter of walking onto it and popping out the other side?

Have a look at Kezmo's binds above - there's some good examples there of what's possible. The medic one is alias "v_uberready" "voicemenu 1 7", then you bind v_uberready to whatever key you like.

Got to be honest but that didn't mean much to me! Will have a fiddle tonight though, in the keyboard settings or actually in the ini file?
