Many of you will know Special Effect and the work they do. They work with Gareth who I'm sure you all read on his journey which started on here with a Dead Space question. I wanted to see if we could get the OcUK community behind this and support them with a simple vote on steam for 3 unique items to be added to the TF2 store. A Fantastic chance to make a big difference with the click of a button....

99% of the proceeds of this item will help fund SpecialEffect - a charity working to help disabled players get back in the game.

Reckon you could live without your games?

We couldn't. We love them. But thousands of people with disabilities are missing out on what the rest of us take for granted, because they can't use a games controller.

Your vote today will help SpecialEffect (the gamer's charity) to have a chance of having 3 unique items added to the TF2 Store for purchase and help give disabled gamers a fighting chance through specialised games control equipment.

You'll be helping SpecialEffect bring this equipment directly into the homes and hospitals of the people who need it most. And you'll be transforming the lives of people with the most severe disabilities through cutting-edge technology like eye control and brain control.

But you won't just be helping some people to have fun. You'll be supporting a charity that actively collaborates with the games industry to make their games more accessible to everyone.

So please vote today. You'll be changing the way the whole world plays.

Please vote here

If you can spread the word it would be really appreciated.

-Mods, would this be okay to also go to GD too? seeing as the forum provided a vast amount of support to OcUK member Gareth and Special Effect had involvement in his journey, I think it would be great to put our community together to support them on this.

:)

These guys were at the last I series, it's AMAZING what they are doing. They had controllers that follow your eyes, so for eg, they used a car racing game, you look left, the car instantly goes left.

They had controllers for people that didn't have the use of both or 1 arm etc.

Il be voting!

Personally, I think the thread is best off left in here.

Update

Just a quick note to thank you for all your support with the SpecialEffect
TF2 project.

The great news is that within just one week the SpecialEffect charity
collection is currently ranked the 9th most popular of all time on the TF2 Steam
Workshop. We are crossing our fingers that as more people hear about it the
items might be added to the game which will see 99% of profits to SpecialEffect
and 1% to the community artists.

There has also been a overwhelmingly positive response from gamers across
the globe who are new to SpecialEffect with some lovely comments.

We will let you know if and when the items are added!

Nice to see it is doing well.

Is Gareth still posting on here? Was pretty cool when the Dead Space 2 got coverage on big gaming sites and he got help.

Stupid question....(especially considering how long I have been on steam) but what button am I meant to press to vote ?

I do not see a VOTE button :p
